Ok, so here it is.

We (Tina and I) met with the USFS yesterday, and we have conditionally agreed to bring back the famed Shady Burro Enduro in 2026. Set aside July 18/19, 2026 for a two day full on HIGH mountain enduro.

We have a TON of work to do to make this happen, starting with developing and maintaining a new relationship with the Divide Ranger District in the Rio Grande National Forest. They want the event to return as bad as we do, but there are ALOT of things that need to fall into place before we can make it happen.

That being said, none of it is impossible, I am going to do my thing and make this a WORLD CLASS TOP NOTCH Event. My ONLY goal for 2026 is to redevelop the trust and respect of the USFS and earn their trust that we as the RMEC can conduct ourselves for such an amazing event and leave there knowing we didn't cause any damage. That being said, with the rider cap that we are facing we will be an RMEC only points paying event for 2026 - it has to be that way to develop the relationship and earn the trust again. That doesn't mean folks cant enter anyway, they'll just need a 1 day RMEC membership is all.

I know I have been saying I'm retiring and I am tired...well I am. My crew, my son Kolten and my amazing wife both think I've lost my mind. Maybe so, but until you work this event and live the emotional roller coaster that is Shady Burro - you'll never understand the true love that I have for this event, the South Fork area and the mountains that surround it. I've had the very best times of my life riding there - and I want to continue a legacy that was started long before me with the Boot Hill National...at some point I will hand this thing off, but I have 1 year left on my 5 year permit. Going forward from there, we will sort things out. My promise to you is that I will work my butt off to make this the best damn enduro anywhere.

Today is Day 1 of prep work. Dec 6, 2025. 224 days until go time. I am going to be busy - forgive me but hold the questions because there aren't any answers. Just a plan and a vision.
